April/May Title Release Delays Due to COVID-19

The state of the world has changed immensely and abruptly in the last few weeks.

As you may have heard, the publishing industry is struggling. The outbreak of novel coronavirus around the world has resulted in non-essential business closing down temporarily, including printers, distributors and other vitally important parts of the publishing process.

What does this mean for TOKYOPOP? It does mean that we’ve had to put some titles on hold temporarily, and as of right now aren’t able to give estimates for when they’ll be released yet. We’re working hard in the background to find other ways to get new titles to our fans throughout this shutdown, including accelerated ebook releases and outsourcing work to freelancers.

And as a thank you to our community, we’ve launched the COVID-19 Community Free Manga Program, with a selection of titles available digitally for free until the end of April. We’ve been overwhelmed with the generosity shown by our creators and licensors in making this happen, and we hope you’ll find something new to read!

From all of us here at Team TOKYOPOP, please stay safe, wash your hands, stay indoors and take care of yourselves!
