'Attack On Titan: 'Nugget Style' Gets TV Anime Adaptation

Attack on Titan fans rejoice! No, it’s not a Season 2 release date yet, but it just might fill that Titan-shaped hole in your heart until then.

In 2012, the world was graced with an adorable manga series called Attack on Titan: Junior High. Created by Saki Nakagawa, the manga sends Eren, Misaka, and the gang back to those wonderfully awkward middle school days. This October, the anime version will see its debut.

The series has a discernably lighter tone than Attack on Titan, as one might expect. What’s interesting, though, is that at no point in the trailer is a single person shown in a 3D Maneuver Gear kicking butt. Weird, right? Well, in this version of the Titan universe, humans and Titans actually attend school together! One day, the Colossal Titan eats Eren’s lunch (which, of course, included his favorite snack). From there on, Eren has a deep-rooted hatred for the Titans and makes it his goal to get rid of them all. This makes it hard for him to make friends at school, which worries Mikasa.

It will be nice to have a break from the dark, intense world of Attack on Titan and see a reimagining where conflict arises from stolen cheese loaf instead of, well… you know. Seeing your mother eaten alive…
