Korean illustrator Na Young Wu has created a fresh new perspective of classic Western fairytales, and their Disney adaptations, by re-drawing them in a traditional Korean style called manhwa.
The artist, also known as Obsidian (@00obsidian00) on Twitter, left the iconic features of the Disney princesses and classic fairytale characters, such as the dominating colors and the surroundings, but changed their appearances and clothes so that they reflect the traditional Korean costumes, hairstyles, and folklore. The result is beautiful re-imagining of the classic fairytales, which highlights both the refinement of manhwa and the wonder of the possibilities of these fresh takes on classic tales.
Na Young Wu is a Korean artist who has created character illustrations for games such as Japanese mobile game Furyoudou (Gang Road) and the Korean production Age of Storm: Kingdom Under Fire Online.
