MEMORIES

We asked you, our fans, what your favorite memories of TOKYOPOP are throughout the years, and here’s just a small sample of the amazing photos, collections and cosplays we received. Let us know your story and we might feature it here!

I loved Cardcaptor Sakura when I was younger, I wanted to be her, and the series ended up leading me to start drawing my own manga and writing novels around the age of ten, and in high school I started taking Japanese lessons as a second language. I’ll be turning 30 in May and now I’m the head webcomic critic for a comic book review site and I specialize in Korean Webtoons and the occasional manga, I’m also writing a massive novel series that’s over 1.3 million words in length.

One of the first mangas I read was WISH-CLAMP and to this day it’s still one of my favourite series and got a tattoo from it.
— Ashley Rutland-macdonald (Tattoo by Ash Farrow Tattoo)

It has to be collecting these two series at the same time, for me: Silver Diamond & GetBackers. These two series had me making friends I still have today, and still occupy my mind from time to time.

I have some old swag from the first New York Comic Con back in 2006! I used to wear this sweatband every day with my uniform in high school.

When I first got into Manga you published so many of my favs! I’ll always cherish my Tokyo Mew Mew volumes! I’ve actually cosplayed every cover from the main series

So, TOKYOPOP is celebrating 25 years of being in the manga releasing industry. First off, congratulations 🎉. Thank you for bringing us a lot of good English titles. A lot of my early collection were from TOKYOPOP. So, thank you~ & cheers to more manga
— @itsmariachaaan

I have so many series by them but my top 4 oldies are:

1. series that took ages to find
2. 2 series that I won’t buy reprints for
3. Series I wish was finished
4. My first & my precious series

I look forward to many more years together ☺️💖
— @Mizutina

It would take too long to bring out all my TOKYOPOP manga, so I took a pic of all my TOKYOPOP magazines! Happy anniversary🎊
— @mysticdragon3ni

While cleaning found this complete collection of the second arc in Cardcaptor Sakura, I got these over a decade ago and was so excited as it was first real manga I ever owned! I saved up my weekly allowance to buy a book every second week which was one of the best moments for me!
— @pinupcomedian

I’ve cosplayed a couple of characters from old TOKYOPOP titles.

Shirotsuki from Hibiki’s Magic and Count D from Petshop of Horrors.
