Who would have thought that a Singaporean TV sitcom might be the source of the next annoying meme everyone uses worldwide? Apparently, this might be the case. Comedian Chen Tianwen, who plays one of the characters on the sitcom "Spouse For House," has as his catch phrase the word "unnnnnbelievable!" He apparently says it enough to where it would likely give Inigo Montoya conniptions if he was anywhere near him. As taglines go, it's pretty bland, too.

However, when it came time for the sitcom to explain exactly WHY this word is this character's tagline, the show created an insane video featuring Chen that calls to mind cheesy karaoke videos from 1970s Asia. Even if you don't know the depths of cheese these videos sink to, the bizarre '70s fashion sense, the silliness of the lyrics, and the Engrish within are enough to make jaded American geeks giggle.

Yes, the finest polyester leisurewear the Asian continent can muster. And oh, those Elvis-worthy shades!

What you talkin' 'bout, Willis? "Come be my coffee table and I'll be your sofa?" What kind of depraved fetish is he singing about here?

And it goes into outer space with another weird romantic allusion that doesn't...quite...work...

And here's that stunning payoff!

Anyway, the video has gotten half a million hits since it dropped on April 14th, and is going viral beyond Singapore. According to the showrunner of the sitcom, Wang Guoshen, who in this picture is showing off what probably partially inspired this lunacy...

...the true inspiration for this video had to do with, yes, a karaoke video that somehow stuck in his brain. It's "Maili" by Huang Qing Yuan, and it's just about as bizarre as the video Wang created for the show. Here, feast your eyes:

What can I say? It's stunning. Like vegetable.
