Live-Action Attack on Titan Cast Revealed!
Life-sized Titan statues in Tokyo, an Avengers crossover, and now a reveal of the live-action cast in costume - let’s just say it’s been big month for Attack on Titan! Before you judge the casting choices, live-action Attack on Titan producer Yoshihiro Sato explained that the production team didn’t concern themselves at all with whether or not the actors looked like their manga counterparts. Instead, after several talks with series creator Hajime Isayama, Sato “carried out casting on the basis of whether or not the actors could embody the spirit of Isayama’s originals.”
Honduras fan convention - MEGACON!
TOKYOPOP Fam: NOTE: lots of pics below and even more here on Flickr! Hola from Tegucigalpa, Honduras!! I’m down here in Central America for a fan convention called MEGACON. It’s quite amazing to me how many places around the world have fan conventions featuring comics, manga, anime, gaming and other geek culture. Little did I imagine that I’d be visiting Honduras for a con, but the invitation was irresistible since I wanted to see for myself what fandom is like in a small country like Honduras.

Never too late to "Pray For Japan"
You may or may not know that in March 2011, when Japan's Tohoku area was hit by a devastating earthquake and tsunami (which of course caused the nuclear disaster in Fukushima), I traveled from Tokyo to Tohoku to pitch in - and ultimately film a charity film entitled "Pray for Japan". This documentary focuses on four perspectives - Shelter, Volunteers, School, and Family.
One-year anniversary of Philippines' tragedy
TOKYOPOP Fam: One year ago today the Philippines was literally swept away by one of the strongest tropical storms ever recorded - Typhoon Haiyan (also known as Typhoon Yolanda). With sustained winds of almost 200 mph, Typhoon Haiyan took the lives of over 6000 people, most of them on the Eastern Visayas islands of Leyte and Samar, and displaced an estimated 4 million people. Thousands of victims still live in temporary shelters.
Become a Manga-Anime Guardian!
Let’s just be honest - Piracy happens. It’s a terrible thing, but it will probably never go away. It would be AWESOME if every content creator got all the money they deserve, but it would also be awesome if I could date Faye Valentine. Alas, only at Cons... Still, Japan has come up with a new campaign to combat the piracy of anime and manga. Instead of punishing the pirates, Japan is trying to reward the people who come by their anime and manga honestly. Let us introduce the Manga-Anime Guardian (M.A.G.) Project

Cotton Candy in the Big Apple
TOKYOPOP Fam: Happy Day-After-Halloween everyone! I hope you had a scary-fun All Hallows' Eve - and surprised everyone with your awesome costume! (I went as a Bollywood-style Maharaja, but really needed a headdress to pull it off - maybe next year).
